- In FY24, the company made significant strides toward its net-zero goals, sourcing 87% of its electricity from certified renewable sources. This achievement was driven by reforestation initiatives, hybrid work models, and onsite self-consumption systems.
- NTT DATA aims to achieve carbon neutrality across direct operations (Scopes 1 and 2) by 2035, and across its full value chain (Scope 3) by 2040.
- Talent and diversity remain central: over 1.6 million hours of training were delivered, with women representing 32.6% of the workforce — and 30% of executive leadership.
September 2025 – NTT DATA has unveiled its new Sustainability Report, spotlighting the company’s ESG performance during fiscal year 2024 (April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025) across Europe and Latin America. Reflecting the company’s purpose of building a better future through diverse talent and responsible technology, the sustainability strategy is shaped by stakeholder priorities. The company’s strategic pillars include environmental and social goals such as circular economy, the road to net zero, and economic development, as well as its commitments to quality education, diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I), social engagement, ethical AI, and robust standards for transparency and information security.
Reducing the Carbon Footprint
NTT DATA Europe & LATAM is committed to achieving carbon neutrality in scopes 1 and 2 by 2035 and scope 3 by 2040.
In 2024, the company increased its share of certified renewable electricity by 13%, reaching 87% of total consumption. The 100% renewable energy target — set for 2035 — has already been achieved in countries such as Germany, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, and Switzerland, resulting in a reduction of 3,238 tons of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂e).
A further 34,277 tCO₂e were avoided through hybrid work arrangements, solar energy systems installed at the Barcelona and Milan offices, and an electric fleet in Austria, Germany, and Italy. These three countries — along with Switzerland, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia — also offset 1,267 tCO₂e through reforestation initiatives. Another 116 tCO₂e were offset through low-emission travel partnerships for business mobility.
Currently, 51% of the company’s total floor space is certified as sustainable buildings. This includes 13 offices with LEED certification (in Spain, Germany, Italy, Romania, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, and Peru), 3 with BREEAM certification (Spain and Romania), and 3 with WELL certification (Spain, Romania, and Italy). Additionally, 27% of sites are ISO 50001 certified (energy efficiency) and 53% are certified under ISO 14001 (environmental management).
The company led several high-impact initiatives to address climate change and mitigate ecosystem degradation — including the Sustainable Digital Cleanup, aimed at promoting responsible technology use and reducing digital waste. The initiative eliminated 375,000 GB of unnecessary data, avoiding 93,750 kg of CO₂ emissions. The company also donated 1,500 IT devices to schools and nonprofit organizations.
Advancing Economic Growth and Social Impact
NTT DATA aims to accelerate digital upskilling as a key objective to attract and develop talent. In 2024, the company invested over €55 million in training, delivering more than 1.6 million hours of professional development.
As a result of initiatives to promote gender equity, women now account for 30% of executive leadership and 32.6% of the workforce — figures that stand out in the ICT sector, which has long been characterized by low female participation.
The company also expanded its social impact by contributing €1.5 million through employee microdonations on the Teaming platform; through initiatives led by the NTT DATA Europe & LATAM Foundation — such as the Technology Olympics, which engaged 3,600 children; and through a new digital volunteering platform that mobilized 2,500 employees across 83 social and environmental initiatives during the reporting period.
Advancing Corporate Excellence
During fiscal year 2024, NTT DATA EMEAL achieved several new certifications and recognitions: its FY24 Carbon Footprint Inventory, an improved ECOVADIS score (from 60% to 67%), contribution to the Group’s ‘A’ rating in the CDP Climate Change 2024 index, a score of 80/100 in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), and the EY Global Equality Standard (GES) certification — one of the world’s first certifications focused on DE&I.
For the second consecutive year, the company was named a Global Top Employer by the Top Employers Institute, in recognition of its leading people management practices.
People remain central to the organization’s culture. The internal One Voice survey methodology was revamped to measure not only satisfaction, but also workplace, organizational, and emotional engagement, as well as employees’ willingness to contribute. A total of 76% of employees worldwide participated in the survey, reflecting a strong level of engagement across regions.
As part of its responsible innovation agenda, NTT DATA signed the European Commission’s AI Pact and launched the GenAI Academy. Within a year, 93% of professionals completed foundational training in Artificial Intelligence and GenAI.
“We are committed to shaping the future — ensuring that every innovation, every data point, and every decision drives us toward a more sustainable planet and a fairer society,” said María Jesús Villa, Head of Corporate Sustainability at NTT DATA Iberia, International Organizations, LATAM and Consulting in Benelux & France. “This report not only showcases the progress and results we are proud of — it also reaffirms the roadmap we are following to scale our positive impact by 2030,” she concluded.
