NTT DATA sets in Barcelona the European headquarters of its Artificial Intelligence global Centre of Excellence

NTT DATA sets in Barcelona the European headquarters of its Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence, based at everis Living Lab. This centre will be the first space focused on this technology that the company opens outside Japan.

The CoE has a team of data scientists and engineers, working closely in a first stage with 130 AI specialised professionals from NTT DATA in Tokyo and Spain, focusing on developing new assets, running AI training and delivering value added services for clients, as well as raising awareness about NTT DATA’s AI vision through events, partners and key analysts.

The launch of this CoE is a part of NTT DATA’s three-year strategic plan to establish its position as a key global strategic partner for clients in the adoption of AI for digital transformation. NTT DATA will invest, during the first phase, 850,000 euro to create innovative solutions and promote digital business for clients at a global level.

NTT DATA inaugurated the new Centre of Excellence. Tsuyoshi Kitani, NTT DATA’s CTO, has commented “it is my great pleasure to announce that NTT DATA’s first European Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence was inaugurated at everis Living Lab in Barcelona. We commit to accommodate our client’s requirement for the artificial intelligence and contribute to the business expansion with the enhancement of this CoE.”

Artificial Intelligence: key business driver

Industry sources forecast that the Artificial Intelligence market will grow to $36.8 billion by 2025. This technology, therefore, will become increasingly relevant for companies during the following years as a key business driver.

Accordingly, NTT DATA’s has launched this CoE with the aim of meeting this demand and establishing its position as a strategic partner for clients around this technology. This new space will also be the main driver to deploy the CoE’s strategy within the European market, working in collaboration with the R&D team the company has in Tokyo.

NTT DATA has adopted a global digital strategy as one of the cornerstones of its current medium-term management plan (FY2019 – 2021) and is expanding CoE as a base for accumulating cutting-edge technologies across the world. Now, with the launch of AI-CoE, there are four CoEs: Blockchain, Design, DevOps and AI.

NTT DATA expects to have approximately 5.000 personnel globally in these four fields through the CoE activities by the end of FY2021 and continue to expand the CoE and increase human resources for advanced technologies in other fields.
